This is not a For Sale thread; I'm just trying to find out current value in case I have to sell them in the next couple months due to Missouri changing the law.

I've had some of them for several years, and have no idea what they'd be worth now. (They weren't expensive to start with, but I don't know if they hold any value).

Thanks in advance for any help.

Top to bottom, here's what it says on the blades;

1. AKC Made in Italy Stainless Steel

2. (Completely blank)

3. 440 Stainless Italy

4. U.S.A

5. There's an outline of what looks like a cat, and it says Stainless in cursive below that.

You do not have anything special so the value is going to be what you can get out of them. It will be no where near what they were NIB. If they were customs and NIB you could expect 70-80% of of retail if you were selling to a purveyor. With the current economy I may be over estimating that.

I wouldn't worry about the change in Missouri's law. It was purely a case of unintended consequences. I believe they weren't consciously trying to take away the curio and keepsake exception. It just happened because they weren't focusing on the knife part of the weapons law. I seriously doubt this represents a shift toward prosecution or a crackdown. I'm no lawyer but I'm betting the only way you're ever going to get charged for having a switchblade is if you do something stupid with it or you're already up shit's creek and they're just piling on charges.

Besides, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm going to use this as a reason to push for the elimination of ALL references to switchblades in Missouri law. I've already written my representative and the author of the gun bill to let them know what they did regarding switchblades. I haven't heard back from them yet, but I intend to follow up next legislative session.

BTW, the governor hasn't signed the law yet so nothing has changed.

But if you're really worried about it, I'd be willing to hold your knives for you so that you won't get in any trouble.

I wrote to Rep. Riddle, who sponsored the bill, and she said to just do whatever it was I'd done before to stay legal.

It would be nice if all mention were eventually removed, but that doesn't help us in August.

Thanks for the opinions.

All of the italian style stilettos in your pic are Chinese clones, including the 13" AKC stamped dagger blade stiletto, its a chinese knock-off that was made a few years ago.  I'd say you could  maybe sell the 13 for 20 bucks, the 9s for 10 and those two things on the bottom for 5.  Or 40 bucks for the group.

Thanks xm. I'm still checking on the law deal, but I want to know what I should expect/ask if I do have to sell them.

Even if the change in law represents a commitment on the part of lawmakers to outlaw switchblades, you would not have to sell yours. You had them before the law became law. Your post here establishes that.

No ex post facto laws allowed . . . .

I'm not so sure about the 13 inch switch. I saw another photo of his knives in a different thread. I looks pretty legit to me . . . .Assuming for a moment that the big AKC is real, that's a $100 knife new. You could probably get about that selling to someone who was not aware of the online sources. In any case, $75 is probably real doable.

The rest all appear to be gun show type stuff –– $10 to $15 each on one of the tables of cheap knives. Again, the uninformed might pay you that for them. Those in the know would discount about 50 percent.

ETA: as an aside, I love me some Italian switchblades, but I think I'm done buying them. They're too damn high for what you get. From now on, I'm concentrating on tacticals and other well-made/practical knives. I will probably pick up a large Leverletto when I find a plain blade one with handle material I like but otherwise, I can't justify spending $100 for a basic 11" Italian stilleto. Fortunately, I have a pretty decent collection of them already . . .

Not to hijack, but has anyone tried one of the Sypderco autos?

Just to update, I took them all to the gun show today, and sold them for $65.

I like it. Nobody believes the "tragic boating accident" thing anyway. Sold them at the gun show . . . . I'll have to remember that.
