Got the idea from Top Shot, now I want to set up a place in my backyard to throw tomahawks.

Anyone got any suggestions for a good throwing/tactical tomahawk in the $50-$75 range?

Thanks.

Sog tactical tomahawk or cold steel trench hawk(my choice) either on amazon for under $40

I've been looking at the SOG. I don't like buying things online without holding them first, but I really have to expectations here, just want something to throw at a tree wedge. A decent warranty would be nice since I know I won't be sticking it flush every time.

Neither of those hawks are "throwing hawks" per se.

A good practice hawk will have a head that is not affixed to the shaft. This allows misaligned throws not to shatter your handle. Practice up with something cheap. Get 3 of these for 48 and learn the basics before buying something expensive that you don't want to beat up

Throwing hawk for 15.99

Probably the most popular cheaper hawk is the Cold Steel Trail Hawk.  They can be had for the sub $20 range.

What he said!!!  And buy extra handles.  Even the experts break handles from time to time.  Novices break them regularly.

I would have said the Cold Steel one as well. They have several styles you can look at.

They say that the Cold Steel trail hawk is one of the best for the money... I want the one from the Dave Canterbury survival school that is made by Two Hawks.

Another vote for the trail hawk.. The Cold Steel pipe and spike hawks will make great throwers too

Get Cold Steel. The quality is very high, great customer support, and the price is excellent.
