Knife in question
I know they have a sub forum on another site I have checked it out. Does any body have any first hand experience with the product? Thinking about picking up a Razel SS LE for an upcoming deployment since the new unit I am going to is sure to have fits about my Jay FIsher PJ , most CEC officers are scared of big knives or knives period for that matter.
Anyone use this particular model or any of the ringed versions? I am thinking placement on my armor for general chores, weapons retention and stuff like that. Before anyone gets on me for choosing a non subdued blade... that is what krylon is for .

Seems quite expensive. I couldn't figure out what the blade steel was on that, but it had the option for s30v for $380. That's pretty damn steep for a knife. I know from being deployed shit gets lost. Hey let me borrow your razel to open an MRE/whatever. Oh shit I left it on the trunk of a humvee. My buddy damn near left my camera in a bog in Iraq. For stuff like that I go with something that won't sting when it gets lost.
I'd look at these: http://www.amazon.com/Rescue-Knife-Scales-Cordura-Sheath/dp/B001DZR3F6/ref=acc_glance_hi_ai_ps_t_3 http://www.amazon.com/Columbia-River-Knife-2012-Bellied/dp/B001BG6WGS/ref=pd_sim_sg_4 http://www.amazon.com/Columbia-River-Knife-2011-Stubby/dp/B001EX4CB0/ref=acc_glance_hi_ai_ps_t_8 http://www.amazon.com/Tool-Textured-G-10-Handle-ComboEdge/dp/B001AC60X8/ref=pd_sim_hi_6 |

Point taken on the cost, I have traveled with my Jay Fisher custom but like you said stuff happens. Plus the CO or some chief would probably go into seazures if they saw that thing hanging off my belt.
I didnt know CRKT made a version, but where is it made? I doubt in the USA but it does look good and functional. Ill have to get to a store with one so I can finger it to get a better idea on how it fits my hand. |

I'd be more apt to carry one of the smaller Busse/Swamp Rat/Scrapyard knives for the same or less money, which is a tougher knife in the long run with better ability to get repaired if necessary under warranty. Plus those makers are very pro-military.
Busse BOSS Street Swamp Rat Ratmandu Scrapyard Scrapper 5 All are well under $380, even on the secondary market. |
| The Graham Brothers are very pro military and did a special run of American flag Razels. The CRKT versiosn are offshore production but that is to keep price down. While the custom versions are worth it to somebody who enjoys/appreciates a custom knife the production versions will serve the average Joe just fine. They make a big version too. KaBar makes the "Tac Tool" under the Becker flag and it is affordable and tough knife that is comparable in capability. For weapon retention a purpose built tool is a better option and there are many makes/models/price ranges out there. |

Good to hear the CRKT version is robust I am still going to try to find a shop that carries them to finger the merchandise. I try to purchase american made knives first unless there is nothing out there that meets my needs made in the USA.
I would rather gut a commie with an American made knife if the occasion ever arose.

CRKT cracks me up. I hate all of their folders, but their fixed blades have all been good by me. I own their ringer and I think that's a handy little knife for all sorts of small cutting jobs. I bet the razel will be gtg. The machete version had horrible balance. That said, I want to try one of the Razel folders they make. |
