Just a little something I am working on. Its a GID-Glow In The Dark powder. This time I mixed it with Gorilla Glue, that foamy crap.....It came out ok but I know it can be better I am going to try a thin super glue and mix it next time. Or something else, just need it to be a bit thinner. But it came out pretty damn cool after a quick sand. I have already ordered some Blue and Aqua powder to play with soon. This powder is cool and have already thought of a million things to do with this stuff.

Here it is, Take 1

Sure beats the price of tritium.....LOL Just a quick charge under a lamp or light through the window makes it glow nice. I decided to try charging it with my SF E2L for 10 seconds or so and it really got bright! So far I am pleased with the powder! Now I just need to find a more translucent epoxy.

Still in the experimentation phase of things. I am going to try just about every kind of epoxy-clear resin I can find. I drilled a 1/4" hole in some scrap orange G-10....mixed with gorilla super glue and looks pretty good. But I know there is a better product for this powder out there

I will try and find some local. Do you have any recommendations on where to find it? Also does it set clear or does it have a tan-yellowish tint when dry-set?

Thanks,

clear...permatex makes some. You can find it in walmart, home depot, ace etc...even an autoshop carries it. Always use the clear as the other can yellow more with age.

Whats the glow life for that stuff and would there be anyway to make them pop-in inserts that could be replaced when they glow no more.

Brownell's Acra-Glas should work great for this. it's pretty much glass clear when wet or dry.....not so much the gel-type though.

Hey guys, have been linked to a couple great products and I will be trying the AG stuff as well.

This is the same stuff used in GID handle materials, so the life of the product has to be pretty damn good.

As far as life of the product is concerned. It is used on fishing lures etc as well as a million other products that get used. It charges quickly with both natural and artificial lights.

Inserts could be made yes, but depending on the knife would more or less have to be glued-epoxied in to hold during shock etc. I dont see this stuff burning out anytime soon. If and when it does...drill the old out and re fill it.

Its a cool product and I plan on continuing experiments to see what looks and works best.

Thanks!
