I ordered an Edge Pro Apex a few weeks back. It is my first knife knife sharpener, and I am very pleased with it.

I've learned a lot from this website, so I hoped to do my part and give something back by recording the results of my first sharpening.

watching this...Looked on you tube at a demo of this system and it looks like to me a MUCH better way to hold the angle than the Lansky...

just thinking of which knife id miss out on getting to own one of these. imo, overkill. ive seen pretty much the same results using a sharpmaker with the ultra fine stones. and you can pack the sharpmaker with you easy. it looks like a full flat grind or blade without much flat on its side could easilly rock and change the angle of cut. not to mention remember some blue masking tape to prevent scratches...might be a good tool if your a professional sharpener i guess. I got my kershaw blur with alot of recurve in it just as sharp and edge just as polished looking on bench stones free hand. just think its not much bang for your buck..

The edge pro definitely is a lot of sharpener for your dollar. I used a sharpmaker for about 6 months before deciding to get the apex 4 kit. Now instead of spending hours on the sharpmaker reprofiling and sharpening I can spend 20 minutes and be done with the edge pro.

I can reprofile a knife, then sharpen it to a mirror polish which will slice toilet paper all in about 20 minutes. That's why the edge pro is worth the money.
