Can you tell of your experiences with the quality of their products? They have several interesting things on their web site.

Their 1095 is good stuff. The same company (I think Rowen) does the 1095 for TOPS and ESEE (Rat). TOPS seems to be expensive to me and their designs are to me, more Tacticool than practical.
ETA 1095 is carbon steel and will rust, but most of the knives are coated and only the edge is exposed. Won't rust if you actually use it and a little mineral oil goes a long way. |

TOPS ... designs are to me, more Tacticool than practical. I think you are 100% correct, especially regarding this knife. Still, I like it. The micarta gripped knife is the one I was thinking of buying. I have a Bravo-1 but I have come to think the grip is too small - not long enough, too small in diameter (Yes, I have gorilla paws for hands). I was looking for something bigger in the grip and this seems to have that. This one's blade is a bit bigger, too. |

My former neighbor was a TOPS dealer, so I got to play with a lot of stuff. Care of 1095 isn't an issue for me. You need to really let a knife go for it to get bad enough to loose the edge and not be brought right back. I think TOPS is even using some 440c and 154cm now also, They have so much stuff I can't remember. The 1095 that Rowen does for them gets treated by Paul Bos. He's tops (no pun intended |

I have a couple of TOPS knives, and I met the owners at SHOT in January. Very nice folks from Idaho, and their blades have not let me down yet. They used to make a great aircrew knife called the Airwolfe. It has lasted with the best of my knives including my Rat's and such. No problems with rust yet.

As long as the steel has good metallurgy (is tough but will also hold an edge), I am sure it will be fine. Rust is not a huge problem where I live (So Cal). A little Break Free usually does the trick - wipe it on, rub it in, wipe it off.
I got a call from TOPS today. It sounds as if the knife is available and should be in my hot little hands soon. <–– surprisingly fast. I'm going camping later this summer. I'll take it with me and play with it, see how it does. |
