My EDC for the last couple of years has been a Benchmade Mini-Rukus (BM615), which is an excellent knife. Unfortunately, Benchmade blew it when it came to the pocket clip design. I'm decidedly high-drag, low speed but I've still managed to break three clips just going about my daily business. To Benchmade's credit they have always promptly sent out replacement clips without any fuss. When I broke the third one last week trying to bend it closed after snagging on a seat belt, I decided to try to fix it for good. I trolled this forum and all the major knife forums I could google and discovered lots of people moaning about the cruddy clip but no real fix. One guy transplanted a clip off of an unspecified Kershaw knife, but he had to drill holes in the clip to line up with the clip screws on the Mini-Rukus.
Taking my search further afield, I found this clip. The details were sketchy on the dimensions ( ok non-existent ), but I figured I would take a chance. It turns out this clip is an EXCELLENT replacement for the factory clip, however you will need to use the factory clip screws and not the screws that the clip ships with. If you have a Mini-Rukus, it's just a matter of when and not if your pocket clip will break. Do yourself and favor and get one of these ASAP. |

How does that clip feel compared to the original? Does it feel more sturdy? It feels like a tank. It's the clip design that should have been on there to begin with. It's snagged on something and opened slightly already, but I took the screws off and put a new bend in it without breaking it in two. I'm happy. |
