I was going through some of my old stuff and found an old Benchmade knife an acquaintance had given me 10+ years ago. Upon looking at the knife, it's a Benchmade CQC7 (not to be confused with the non-Benchmade "Emerson" model), the production run of the special ops CQC6 model. It's the first model of the run with a straight-edged tanto blade. It's in "fair-to-good" condition - the blade needs to be resharpened and have a slight bit of an edge put on it, and it has a slight amount of surface rust (nothing severe and no pitting).
First off, is this a good knife? Reading up on it seems to indicate that it is a rarer model to come by. And, secondly, once cleaned up, is it worth anything? I can post pictures if needed (the knife is currently soaking in some CLP, so it's not exactly camera-friendly at the moment). Thanks and regards... |

I have one I bought back when they were first offered. I had a Benchmade Rep offer me about $200 for mine a few years ago while working in a gun shop. Politely declined. It's been my daily carry since I purchased it. I had two but I foolishly gave one away a couple of years ago. Should have kept it.
Send it to Benchmade with $5 for shipping back. They'll sharpen it and repair any defects issues. Get an RMA number first. |

I have the titanium blade version, NIB. Sold the steel blade version years ago. Its not a very good utility blade. I might be wrong, but there should be only one model of the original Benchmade CQC7. It was made from ATS-34 stainless. Any other blade materials were either subsequent-run variants or Emerson models. The original model was a straight-edged ATS-34 blade. Obviously, I'm no expert, but that's what I gathered from reading for 3+ hours. |
