Any recommendations? Under $200.00 and under a 4" blade. I was looking at the Benchmade Resistor. How are Benchmades? I was never really into knives, I have mostly cheaper knives, but I'm looking for something a bit nicer. Any American made companies out there? |

palmer- emerson would be just under $200 and a very high end, well made blade. Of course, if you wanted to keep the cash for something else, CRKT, Benchmade, and Kershaw all make really pragmatic knives, some of them not too bad looking at all. I own a benchmade 960, and will happily attest to the quality of the product. The D2 that BM uses holds its edge quite well, and the AXIS lock hasn't failed me yet. I've owned a kershaw leek, and it broke (it was my fault...I tried throwing it...bad idea)...but it too was well made, and the assisted opening feature was absurdly addictive. |

Before you choose ANY knife, read this: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=368828 Buying a knife without knowing what the blade is made from is like buying a rifle without knowing what caliber it is! (You can't go wrong with a good Benchmade, IMO) Good shooting, desmobob |

For the price the SOG brand "Vulcan" is tough to beat. Good steel, easily sharpens, and holds an edge. Can be had for $100.00. Great Value for the price. For your $200 you cannot go wrong w/benchmade. Great knives. I myself am partial to SOG and Benchmade knives. In SOG only the american made ones, a good knife for the value. These are my working knives. For a great knife Benchmade. The upper ends are works of art. This is my carry knives. My 2 cents. |
Another satisfied Mini-Rukus owner here. I'm a big fan of Benchmade's AXIS lock; it's solid and it's easy to open. Edited to add: My thread full of Mini-Rukus pr0n. |
