Around ten years ago I purchased a stainless Trail Master. It isn't San Mai. I've never used the knife, though it is out of the box, nor have I ever sharpened it. I payed a bit over 100 for it new, and I'm wondering what it's worth.

Thanks

Oh, I've oiled it about once a year and it looks new, but I can detect some sort of small blemish that appears to be almost a ghostly waxy pale. It's no larger than the plastic tip of a shoestring. An oiled cloth doesn't remove it, though I've been hesitant to really buff it out. Is this rust?

It probably is the "Carbon V" steel. I've got a CS Laredo Bowie with that steel.

Probably not worth more than what you paid. Cold Steel no longer markets knives with the "Carbon V" steel, so there tends to be people that desire it.

A decent enough way to determine value for commodity items is to do a completed item seach on ebay to see what people are paying there. You *might* get away with 10% more on other venues.

ETA: One sold on ebay on the 16th for $182. Good luck if you're looking to sell.

Thanks for the info. I'm just wondering what the blemish is, so I can give an accurate description.
