Anyone have one of Scrapyard's blades?

I'm thinking of picking up their 5" "Dumpster Mutt" to use as a general purpose hiking/camp knife.

I just used one of their Yardhooks for general camp use in CO.  It worked great.  Still shaving sharp after chopping firewood.

I hear they are top notch blades.  They are made by a tight knit group that also does swamp rat knives and busse combat knives.  All the companies make some of the best blades on the planet , but availabilty of the blades is a bit off a problem.  Usually their new blades are sold quite quickly after they are put up on their websites.  Also swamp rat knifeworks has a separate page to buy their knives.... Here and Busse Knives was the biggest pain for myself to find because I never found the next button and did not realize they were almost always completly sold out within a few hours of posting new blades for sale.

If I am not mistaken busse combat is the only one who does allow  custom ordering on their website, the problem with that is after you order you have to wait a while for that particular blade to dissapaer from the website so they can start making/shipping them.  Ex. I ordered a Busse sus scrofa and it probably will not be until another 2 weeks before they remove them from the website, so it could be a month or two before I receive my knife, but I am guaranteed that custom knife.

To the best of my knowledge the Dumpster Mutt is no longer available, I emailed them in my search.  Their web page is hard to navigate, they currently only have one knife available, Swamp Rat has a couple, I just ordered an M6. You may want to look into rangerknives.com, they knives are just as good as the Scraps/Swamps but you can get them whenever you want, the price is a lot easier to swallow and Justin can customize the finish, scales or blade shape for you. I ended up getting one Ranger and a Swamp Rat..... decissions decissions.
If you have your heart set on a dumpster mutt you can go over to blade forums and go to the exchange page where they sell the Scrapyard/Swamp Rat/ Busse knives and get one. They are going to be heavily inflated prices though.
Hope that helps

Yes,  it is 5160 Spring steel, one of the strongest blades you can get, they are true hard use knifes.  The blades are incredibly strong and the customer service is great.   Both companies have great service, like I said the thing that makes Rangers nice is he doesn't sell out of them and he can customize them to your needs. Read up on them, definitely worth the look

I know if I hadn't just bought the blue/black one a few weeks ago I'd be all over that red/black like a fly on sugary things.  Right now some of us over at bladeforums are trying to get idahoskunk to put some cool looking meaner streets up on the storefront, supposedly he just need Amy's approval to do so.

Well then just wait a few months, they usually throw this stuff out in waves.  I don't think this will be the last of the badgers since they have been selling many different stylings of badgers since at least 2001.  That sus scrofa is still up on the main page for order and bare bones its only $197 without serrations, fancy handles, or bead blasting.  I know I need to stop spending money on their blades, I honestly could've bought a DSA FAL with the amount of greenbacks i've thrown at these blades.  But hey I got a lot of toys to beat the tar out of anything
