anyone seen how high these knives are going for on eBay?

A Becker brute cost like 100 or so when new, now they are going on eBay for 275.00 and up!

Are they that good of a knife, I mean a 1/4 inch blade for the brute is a tough knife

I bought about everything I could before Camillus went under but I did so when they were still well below MSRP.

A BK1 Brute is nice but not $275.00 worth of nice......For that kind of mone there are a lot better to be had.

Now there was a company making BT&K products before Camillus bought the licencing and this do fetch a hefty price. Thise didn't have the Epoxy coating but rather a well finished blade but the name escapes me.

275?!!!

Damn, I just found a BK1 today for 135 and thought it was high.  I guess I'll have to go pick it up...along with the Companion sitting right next to it for 95.

Mike Stewart of Blackjack knives bought Ethan Beckers designs and logo.
When BJ folded, Camillus bought the rights..
I have a few including the Div Tul.
I'd say the Brute is worth $150...IF...you have a use for it.

$275? WTF? For that price I would by a RTAK II or Cold Steel Kukri and leave $175 plus in my wallet. I had a BK7 and was not impressed with it. I've been much more impressed with the RAT line from Ontario then the Beckers.

Are the ebay knives originals or are they made by Mike Stewart?  Does it matter?

They will have not have any mention of Camillus in the literature.
The finish looks more like a CS SRK.

Now that the Beckers are mostly gone, what's the next best thing to get as far as production-class (sub-$150, preferably sub-$100) knives that are good enough quality to use but not so expensive that I'd have a hard time replacing it? Ka-Bar? Cold Steel SRK?

You should be able to pick up a Ranger or the Ontario RTAK series for about a C-note.

I picked up the Beckers today (couldn't help myself ).....there is still one more BK2 Companion left if anyone wants the info.

I thought I would add that I picked up a Becker Brute..don't ask me how much I paid.....but....

I went for a few days camping in the WI north woods and used it very much to chop wood, clear brush etc. etc. I was most impressed by this knife. I also did a couple days of ATV riding through area's without trails and used it many times, the other members of my party kept calling out for "that knife" throughout the day as we blazed trails where there were none.

Love the Becker Brute...I will test the Ontario knife next month when I am back in those woods again...
