In an earlier thread I mentioned that one way to save money was to buy previously owned knives. That way you can often buy a knife for $100.00, $200.00 or even $300.00 less than if you bought it new. The question is though, how can you find them? One of the best places to buy a NEW but previously owned knife is the Cutting Edge List. This is a list of knives that are for sale. Many of them are consignment knives. Most are brand new and it will describe any faults if it is not. They will clearly tell you if the knife is used and will give you two weeks to examine it and return for a full refund. BUT, there are no Pictures. Because there are no pictures, many buyers shy away from the list. This means that if you know what you want, then here is a great place to get it. But how do you know what you want? The easiest and most fun way is to Window Shop the major dealers. one of the biggest is KnifeArt They represent almost all of the major knifemakers. If you browse their site by maker you can see many of the knives. When you see one you like, jot down the maker, the model, special features and the price. then just keep you eyes open on the CuttingEdge for your knives to show up. But when they do, jump on them. The good ones don't last too long. Next I'll take you on a tour of knife sellers on the web. |
