What's the consensus on these things? They're about unbeatable in the portability and ease of use categories. I like mine but it seems to make my knives "field sharp" instead of "make air bleed" sharp.

I've always looked at these and thought to myself <gimmick>. I guess if it works and puts a usable edge for what you do then fantastic.

I like it for a quick and dirty sharpening on my work knives.
