I forgot what it is but I still have mine that I bought in the mid 80's. I don't think it's stainless cause mine had some minor surface rust on it She's a little rough but still in good shape. Did it still have the little compass with directions in the front pouch?

I have the non-serrated BMF that I bought back in '86 or '87. Nice knife...too bad Gerber does not bring them one back. From what I can see, they fetch a good price on eBay. Here is a link to some info on the BMF: Cutlers Cove |
