| Just received my M7 extended bayonet (to fit a 16"barrel) in the mail and there is some light surface rust on it. What do you guys think is the best way to clean it up? |

Best to remove light rust without damaging the finish: Soak the area with a solvent, CLP Breakfree, or better still, Kroil. Let soak at least overnight. Then, apply more and scrub the area with a brass "toothbrush". When the rust is removed, wipe clean and apply your favorite anti-rust lube. One like CLP Breakfree will continue to lift any remaining rust as well as prevent any new from forming. Scrubbing with a brass brush will remove the rust, but unlike even fine steel wool, it won't further damage the finish. |
