I'd be REAL CAREFUL about doing that. even if their knife is held in a sheath. |
Ok, fuck you both.... This sheath is made to hold a knife in on a key chain, and it didn't. That is a flaw of theirs. If the sheeth held onto the blade like it was suposed to, i'd still have a knife. tax-monster, have you been eating retard sandwiches again? What are you 12? Try being polite some time dick head. "I dissagree with what your saying" gets better results. |
|
Well, sometimes a different approach will get better results. Without threats or name-calling, a simple letter and return of the sheath to Cold Steel, explaing a "defective sheath", would probably have yielded better results. Although it's an inexpensive knife, how many "customers" have called and told Cold Steel that they lost thier $300 sword, or broke their $200 knife prying open safe doors and want a replacement? ROCK6 |
| I did actually explain it that way to them in the letter I wrote to them when I sent in the sheath. What I typed at the beginning of this post is what I said when he called me. First off he caught me off guard, I didn't expect a phone call, and I was a irritated that they wouldn't back up their product. |
| Let me get this straight, you had the knife in a sheath, it fell out and was lost. Now you want Cold Steel to replace it , because you think the key chain or sheath was defective. You called Cold Steel demanded they replace something you lost and want other members of this forum to boycott Cold Steel since you lost the Knife. Say I purchased a Dell notebook, I am out and about one day and lose a part from the notebook, I call Dell tell them I lost the part, Do you really thing they would replace it? No they would not, its not covered under warranty. As in your case which you have no case but to buy another knife. You do not have a Valid complaint against Cold Steel. I would drop the issue spend $13 dollars and get another knife.h.gif |

This sheath is suposed to be specifically made to hold the knife in on a keychain. If the knife held it as tightly as it was suposed to, I'd still have it. If it were a regular belt sheath that I forgot to snap closed, and the knife fell out, I wouldn't have ever brought it up. But if it were a belt knife where the snap broke, or mailfunctioned, I would expect them to replace it. http://www.coldsteel.com/urbanpal.html This is the knife I've been talking about. If you guys don't see the problem with the sheath not holding in the knife, I'll shut up about it. But if you don't expect this sheath to hold in the knife, please tell me how your suposed to carry it so you don't have to worry about loosing it. |
+1 You bought it, lost it, now go buy another........
|
Sorry, convincing people to not buy something isn't "The use, or the express or implicit threat of the use, of violence or other criminal means to cause harm to person, reputation, or property as a means to obtain property from someone else with his consent" Unless telling your friends (or arfcom) that "such and such a compnay has horrible customer service and you shouldn't buy from them" is now consiered violence or "criminal" |

it's true. it's not a good design. it's just held in by friction. i would have replaced the sheath as soon as i got it. or not carried it that way. you can't expect a 25 cent piece of plastic to hold a knife. sorry you lost your knife but YOU did so. sure you lost it because of a poor design by the MFR but you can't expect them to step up to the plate and give you a new one so you can loose it again. it would have been stellar if they did. but they didn't and you bear the burden of responsibility of loosing it.. i have a couple cold steel knives including a carbon five bird and trout knife that came with a sheath like yours. Your crazy if you think i would carry that little Jewel in their sheath |
| Well, thank you all for your posts. I see your point, and your all right, I did loose it, though I still think they should have replaced it. I guess I should have figured out the design flaw when I first got the knife, and retuned it right away. Younggunner: I am sure it was properly secured. Maybe I should chage the post to "Don't buy the Urban Pal". And thank most of you for voicing your opinions in polite manner. I do apologize for the language I used in one of my earlier posts. |
That is what I would suggest. A few years ago, I sent my folder to Cold Steel, because the belt clip broke (one of the older plastic designs). I fully expected to pay for whatever repair they could offer. Not too long after that, they sent me a new knife, same style, with the newer steel clip design. No charge. Needless to say, I've been a big fan of Cold Steel ever since, and I would recommend them to anyone. |

Hello Blackhawk.... I need you to send me a new glock 21C. I was using one of your low ride assault holsters and it has a design flaw that the thumbreak comes unsecured and allowed ny weapon to fall out. Why do I need a new weapon ?? Well this one has a scratch on ot now so it is damaged...... do you think that would work?? Cause that did happen. How about I give you blackhawks number and you give that a try....oh get a recorder cause I got to hear their response. |
Really? That's also unrealistic can you imagine how many people would be calling in to say they lost a knife? Having a broken product and sending it in for replacement is one thing, but asking a company to take your word on something is quite another. Consumers will say almost anything, including lies, to get something for free. I have a similar knife made by United and the problem with it is the dang thing is too difficult to get in and out of the sheath. You have to push a button and it's pretty cheaply designed. |
Done PS: your rude, and a dick. Try being polite jack ass. |
|
You say to be polite, then call him a jackass... wow. Good job. As far as I know, the ONLY company that will replace a knife if you lose it, is SCHRADE / OLD TIMER. I know that if you buy a knife of theirs, and call them and tell them you lost it, they'll send you a new one. (1 time max, I'm sure.) Cold Steel makes excellent products! +1 for Cold Steel. |

Like I am really gonna not buy a Cold Steel because 1 guy loses his knife. My 16 year old nephew knows better than to blame someone else for his own ignorance. Modify your post title, and take a little responsibility.
