Freedommunitions.com has .50 bmg ammo cheap. Has anyone used this. I'm looking at API rounds but can't find any reviews. I'm torn between them and survival ops. Anyone know what kind of Mao I can expect with an ar50 with either their ball or API rounds.
Thanks Sean |

I bought a bunch of API from them.Shipping was cheaper for me than survival ops.Shipped fast and came in like new .50 cal cans.
Functions fine,so far I have only shot it at 100 yds,but it's making one hole groups thru an AR 50.Hopefully I'll get time to go out to 500 this weekend.I dumped them out and looked at all the rounds and saw no defects whatsoever. Some of the projectiles have tiny pull marks, but haven't affected accuracy at 100 yds anyway. |

Forgive the noob question here, but I keep hearing of "pulled bullets." What exactly are they? Is it reloads from bad rounds taken apart and reloaded? |

Usually military rounds that have to be broken down to be sold-they have to disassemble them, then can make new rounds.Depending on how the projectile is removed, you will have no marks to deep indentations.I don't mind tiny marks, but am a little hesitant with the deeper marks. You'll see components (primed brass, powder, and projectiles) for sale in a number of places. The company Talon used to sell 06 and 308 rebuilt ammo.Patsreloading also sells components. Hope this helps. |

apocalypticpyo––––––-Ordered 100. They shoot. I had about a 8" three shOt group at 200 yds. Not match ammo but fun plinking ammo.
What type did you order, and, what were you shooting it from? Think best shooting surplus was Igman at $2 bucks a round, can't find any now. Steyr loved them, was ragged hole at 200 M, more accurate and less recoil than Barrett ammo, which, I got a great deal on at the time. Thanks. |

Snot-Rocket, I just got 150 rounds in a can. I just looked at the top 15 and they are all Lake City 06-09. I should be going in mid august to shoot it. If i remember, I'll write a range report. Thanks, I went ahead and ordered two cans (300 rnds) of the 647gr ball. Shipping to northern CA was only $38 and change - not bad. |

My 300 rounds just arrived and they came well packaged in cardboard boxes and the ammo is packed in like-new .50 cal ammo cans inside of the boxes. That's worth mention as in my area, fresh-looking ammo cans are now selling for $15 at least. I examined the top layer of both cans and all brass was Lake City mostly 09 with some 05. The bullets (I ordered ball) don't appear to have any pull-marks that I could find. It's nice to have ammo that doesn't need the brass cleaned off before shooting.
Anyways, if this ammo shoots as good as it looks, I'll certainly buy more. My "buy threshold" on .50 is ~$2 a pop and of all I've picked up, this looks top rate and the cans are a nice bonus. I also just got my RCBS .50 BMG ammomonster and plan to shoot this first as I haven't picked up the tools for uniforming primer pockets or swagging primer crimps just yet. |
| I just received 50 rounds of API today. I did a mini range report on their 10mm ammo and discovered it was more than 100fps slower thru my chrony than advertised. It was decent ammo overall with acceptable accuracy. I'm betting that their 50bmg ammo is decent as well as it looks and is packaged well. Shipping was reasonable and got out quickly with tracking info. I tried Surviavalops 50bmg and was somewhat disappointed with the high shipping, lack of tracking info and more importantly lackluster 3 to4 moa accuracy. It is listed as Match Grade ammo but the owner stated that "match" means it will fit match or standard chambers. Ironically, my standard chamber would not accept 4 out of the 40 rounds I purchased. I was told Survivalops would replace those rounds so I'm currently waiting to see if replacements rounds are sent. |
| I shot some ball the other day at the local range to get a zero at 100 yards. This stuff seems a bit hotter than the reliant API I shot before. Definitely more of a thump to the shoulder but not by any means unmanageable. A couple of the rounds were a bit sticky to get out of the chamber on my SHTF upper which is pretty standard with loads approaching the spec of the loads used by .mil in the m2. |

Does anybody have any additional range reports or observations about this ammo? I met up with JohnyRotten at the range and I think his groups out of a M82A1 were maybe 7-8 inches at I think 200 yards. I'll let him confirm that before you take it as fact, though. Just not sure how accurate my memory is with only 3.5hrs sleep before the outing. lol I just recall asking him how the ammo was shooting and he held his hands up in a circle I assume to be about that much. Correct me if I'm wrong, Johnny. |

I still need more practice, no complaints yet for my 3rd time out with this gun.... |

| Ok, so I dont feel too bad. By groups were about baseball size whe whole time I was getting a zero. I was affraid I should have fire a few more rounds before moving my scope. However, from begining till end when I walked down there I could have taken a baseball and sat it over top my first shot to last shot. Not bad for being new to shooting a 50bmg with a stock ar15 trigger and extra power hammer spring. |

Just put an order in for M-855 62 gr. Penetrator AP:Box of 500. The price was nice. Can't be any worse than Wolf. Read some of the reviews... might not going to win anyblue ribbons for tight groups but if I can hit what I'm aiming at I'm happy. If I can get a good zero this week I should have the Freedom stuff by next week when I go to the range again. I'll post the results. |

Finally got out to shoot today.
AR 50,10X Bushnell Mil Dot,647gr API (Freedom Munitions),51 degrees,no wind, prone position. 100yd groups averaged 2 inches.Shooting at a 2" red circle on a piece of drywall. Went out to 400 yds and my first 2 rounds were an inch apart (little high and right).Made a slight adjusment and the next 4 were in a 4 inch group, dead center. After that I let a couple other guys shoot it and we blew the center out of the target-30 rounds within about 10 inches total. The target was a full size silhouette with a 6" orange sticker dead center. I am extremely happy with this ammo and can't wait to move out to 1000 yds.The ammo fired clean, recoil was about average, and had no issues with opening the bolt and ejecting emptys (or chanbering rounds either). I will definitely being buying more. |
|
Edit, found it right in front of me:
• Full length case resizing to fit all 50 BMG chambers • Barrett and Match Chambers • 100% Hand inspected • Re loadable Brass • CCI primers • 2750 fps Survival Ops page says: "Factory manufactured with lake city brass! 2800 FPS ( Toned down from milspec for less wear and tear on barrel )." What is a Mil spec 50 BMG API loaded to? |
|
I can tell you there was a noticeable difference in the recoil from the Freedom and the Reliant. The Freedom had a bit more recoil in my opinion and a couple of the rounds took a little more effort to unlock the bolt. I would bet the API is close to machine gun spec.
As for velocity, I couldnt get the crony to pickup anything other than error. |

I ordered some from them last week. Waiting for it to ship now. How long did y'all have to wait before your orders shipped out? Mine took a little over a week from ordering with a CC. I'm guessing they are staying pretty swamped, but it will get there.I hate waiting too. |

A Big Thanks to all of our loyal customers, post election orders have forced us to turn some products we actually have available off (we manufacture daily more than we can ship), this will allow for shipping times to return to normal, not 2 weeks. As orders get caught up we will turn these products back on. Please go to the product pages and sign up for the alert "Email me when Back-In-Stock", or please check back periodically and thanks again for all of the support we get. Thank You, Freedom Munitions |
| These are great folks! I received a call from Rudy (sp) last night around 9 o clock PM helping me add to my order I had placed over a week ago and explaining why it was taking a long time to get shipments out. We had a great chat. He said they are very swamped right now and are making and shipping ammo as fast as they can go. I will do more business in the future with them for sure. That's what I call GREAT customer service. |

I've had 480rds 308 ordered for over 4 weeks now from Freedom. Took them forever to ship the 500rds of 5.56 M855, too.
Don't expect your ammo to ship for at least 4 weeks, fellas.
I'm probably going to order another can of API here shortly to stock up. I'm down to 204rds API right now. |
