I’d been looking for some “more economical” bullets for reloading the .50 BMG, since surplus bullets @ .30 - .45 cents are cheap – but possess nowhere near the accuracy capability of an A-max or Bore-rider @ a full $2 a pop..  Yes, I do know that economical shooting and .50 BMG’s aren’t typically subjects that belong in the same sentence – but wait!

I searched all around looking for a decent deal on some precision .50 BMG solids that should out-perform surplus bullets, but not cost as much as a full-tilt match bullet.  I found the Lehigh 647gr cnc-turned solids for $1.20 delivered to my door.  I think I can live with that.  While I was there, I noticed that Lehigh has lots of other custom bullet offerings in other calibers as well as the high-end .50 BMG match-grade bullets.  I wound up picking up a box of their custom ALUMINUM bullets .for my .45-70 Marlin too.

This was my first order from these folks – so I didn’t really know what to expect (since they are a smaller dealer with a small scope of products).  They ship USPS Priority mail with tracking.  I got a tracking email a couple days after placing my order and it was here a couple days later.

The really big surprise was the packaging.  I’ve ordered lot of bullets in my life, but when I rotated this package I couldn’t feel anything inside move at all – and that seemed odd.  What I found was the most carefully wrapped package I’ve ever received.  The .45-70 bullets came packed in a plastic case normally used for loaded bullets and had foam in the top to prevent rattle.  The .50 BMG bullets were packed in a mondo-thick ziplock bag and taped tight – then placed in a second bag and taped tight again.  The double-bagged bullets where then wrapped up in a sheet of closed-cell foam wrapper and then taped securely to the wall of the box so that nothing could move.  Here’s a pic of the box of .45-70’s and a few of the “nice-price” solids for the 50->

I’m really happy with the product and profession order processing from Lehigh and will be ordering from them again.  They have my recommendation for sure

Been getting my bullets from Dave for a couple of years now, great guy to deal with. I've used his bullets in my 50 bmg, 50 Beowulf (.500) and 458 SOCOM.

I like them so far as well.  I loaded up and shot 10 yesterday.  The picture is my group at 300 yds using with a Barrett 99.  Load 225 gr of WC867.  The 5th hole is under the head of the shell I am holding.  about a 5" 5 shot group at 300 yds is the best load I have found to date.  I am going to work up some more and work on my form a little, because I was flnching from the grass, etc. that was blowing all around me with each shot.

The other 5 were with 222 gr and that group was bigger.

Great product & service.  Good person also.  He does quite a bit for the FCSA.

This is good to hear.  This was my first order from Lehigh and had never heard of them before finding them while I’d been searching the Internet for some precision bullets that didn’t cost a full $2 a piece.  I specifically wanted something in the “middle ground” to provide a third option since I probably won’t enter any .50 BMG matches (at least until I re-locate).

I’ll get to test out the aluminum .45-70 slugs pretty soon, but I don’t even have any of the equipment yet to load .50 BMG.  I expect to be purchasing those tools later this coming fall.  I know that my program sounds kind of backwards, but coming from a guy that started buying .50 BMG ammo for this rifle project 3 years ago (having NO rifle) – it probably makes more sense.

I’m glad to hear that other folks are as pleased with the service & quality of the Lehigh bullets as I am.  I’ll certainly be ordering more (when I can scrape together some more cash).
