Anyone have any experience with the 416. I can get one for considerably less than the price of a 50 and I'll sleep better in Illinois not worrying about a 50 roundup.

Harder to form brass than the .50dtc cartridge, so just as expensive as match .50BMG in the end.
Lighter bullets (~400gr) results in longer supersonic flight, but less energy on the target than a heavy ~800gr .50 load can do.
Bullet selection for the .50s (.510") is better.

You might want to look at getting a .50DTC rifle as an option to the .50BMG too.
Most of the major big gun mfg. offer DTC rifles as well as .416s

I would not worry about having a .50 in Illinois.  If it does get bad, send it to Barrett to get a .416 barrel installed. Might as well start with a .50 first...

I vote .50 hands down

50BMG.

Barrett is feeding off magnumitus and a proprietary cartridge which keeps you sucking off the Ronnie Barrett titty for ammo, burned out barrels(50 is overbore, 416 is insanity).
