anyone else have problems putting in the primers in the brass?    it seems to be very hard to get them in  it looks as if there is a crimp for the primer still left there   do i need to get rid of that before i put in the new primers?    and if so how do i get that crimp out?     thanks much

Well Dave you are hitting the nail on the head. Please, do not try to put in any more primers till you remove the crimp. A exploding primer can get nasty real quick, not to mention your ears ringing or worse. I'll tell you what I used, but there are other techniques. I have one of those chamfer reamers that looks like a rocket ship. I am able to take the finned end with the rod in the middle and chuck it up in my cordless drill. I then put the pointed end, in the primer pocket and give it a burst on the trigger. This is usually enough to take out the crimp burr. This will now help funnel the primer in, and you wont have that narrowing of the metal at the opening either.

With my .223 mil surplus brass I bought, I would use a swagger to push the metal out of the way. But just economically prudent with the 50 BMG.

Use a chamfer/debur tool to remove the crimp and put a bit of a chamfer on the inside of the primer pocket mouth.

Easy as pie.

That is the trimmer I use, however I purchased mine with the base which elevates it about 5" as well as the shark fin holder that spins around to holds it all in place. I also have the Wilson primer pocket reamer and I trim and ream using the available power adapter. I can trim and ream fairly quickly with my setup. Not quite as fast as a Giraud, but then again my setup isn't as expensive.
