I have a Cobb 50bmg. Its time for some trigger work, I just cant live with the 12lb pull anymore.
Any suggestions...... |

My only 2 cents worth is this for us shade tree mechanics / gunsmiths. There have been some ka-booms lately in the past couple of years. Thankfully no one has been killed, but a few gents are scared for life. I think one has lost an eye and badly damaged hand. Not sure of the one from the National last July. And just in the past week there has been another.
All I am saying is that some are concerned about a possible hammer jumping the shear from the vibrations of closing a bolt. If you do some shear work, please do a lot of dry firing to insure that the hammer does not jump the shear just from running in a cartridge to the point that you are about to close the bolt. Open Bolt detonation is not a good thing with smaller calibers, but this 50 BMG is just so much more energy being released. I mean, what other caliber are you loading, that uses 200+ grains of powder? Be safe my friends |

Email cobb, they had made a newer version hammer before bushy bought the design.
I think if you ship your hammer/hammer spring back they will replace it for free, your owners manual will have the email address on the front cover. They did the same for me, even though cobb is not in business they have some parts left over including barrels/bolts so any cobb owners who want to buy spare parts should get them now before they run out. They will only replace older hammers, the way to tell if you have a heavy trigger pull older hammer is look at the hammer near the hammer pin area there is a S shaped undercut machined on it, if you have that they will replace it. DO-NOT-USE THE MODIFIED the hammer that is VERY UNSAFE I read you sent it to someone for modification PLEASE do not use it just send it back to cobb. my 2cents worth, I know I don't post very often but I only chime in when someone is doing something that may cause a safety issue. |

I too have the "polished" Cobb hammer. I think they also change the spring weight on the hammer as well. I could be wrong on that one, so don't hold me too it. I have heard of others who tried to lighten the trigger. If not done properly, the result was that the hammer would drop when disengaging the safety, thus causing a discharge. Not good. |
| Recieved my lower back from Bill Springfield today, I dont have a trigger pull scale but I would guess about 5 lbs. There is absolutely no creep, very happy with results! Turn around was exactly 2 weeks, from when I shipped till I got it back. Would highly recommend! |
