Does anyone know the vendors of 50 Cal Brakes?
I am looking for a brake that reduces the most recoil and minimize the dust kick up as much as possible, so I can get the most accuracy as possible out of the rifle without a lot of dirt getting kicked up around my position. I am going to put it on a Lilja heavy target 1.75 st taper to 1.5 barrel. Any recommendations? |

You can forget about not getting alot of dust/dirt flying in the air with a .50 down in the prone position. About the only way you could minimize it would be to use a silencer or use some kind of drop cloth to place on the ground under the brake.
All of the Mfg's make Brakes, you just need to decide which model you want to use on your rifle. Armalite's brake for the AR-50 is one of the most efficient brakes on the market but the muzzle blast is HEAVY! I don't know if K&P are still making their clamshell brake, it's not as efficient as the Armalite brake but they're another one I would consider. The next would be the fishgill style brake from Eastridge Arms (formerly State Arms) as they do an excellent job of reducing the recoil on .50's. |
| Bohica's MKIII brake is the least expensive shark gill brake and is very effective. I got mine for $85 shipped. It's slender profile allows the rifle to fit into slimmer cases without having to rotate the brake. I love it; minimal concussive effects and a very mild kick. |

RMC I just bought one from McMillan and it is identical to the one at the bottom of the page.
Also try state ridge arms or ALS. |

As 50_Shooter says, your two goals are not compatible. You cannot get a low dust signature on a 50 with a brake.
The Armalite AR-50 brake is about the most efficient in my experience. State Arms brakes are also solid. Just don't plan on shoot a 50 prone without a mat and not throwing up a crapload of dirt. -David Edgewood, NM |
| As stated the AR-50 brake is the most efficient, it reduces the recoil down to what I would call a 20ga semi auto shotgun, and then a slight push. But to get this light recoil it's going to kick up a lot of dust, you can't have both, one or the other, and any brake on a 50BMG is going to kick up dust. |

I really don't know. I've had mine for 10 years now, and wanted to play around with it. I really haven't shot any other 50 to compare it to. Quoted: I picked up my Big Boar last week. I shot one a few years back. Do you reccomend a muzzle brake change absolutely or? Thanks. |
