Anyone have any experience with the 50 bmg rifles that they make?  They use McMillan actions and Lothar barrels and are priced cheaper than one from McMillan.

Cheaper because they use Lothar Barrels.  K&P, Kreiger, Pac-nor, and Lilja are all superior to Lothar barrels.  If you want a nice 50 BMG rifle on a McBros action, you can't beat having it put together by Randy Dierks at Action Gun Works in Reno, NV.  He's arguably the top 50 smith out there.

Not saying you don't find a really good Lothar barrel, but they're not as consistently good, in most folks opinions, as the above.

They also have Federson barrels.  What is your opinion of those?

Any idea what Action Gun works would charge for a gun if I furnished the McM action?

You furnish all the parts.  Randy puts it together, including contouring the barrel, chambering, headspacing, metal finishing, stock finishing, etc etc.

Action Gun Works

Give Randy a call.  I'm sure he can discuss putting together whatever you need.  Were I planning a build, here would be my choices in builders, all on a McBros action.  I'd go with either a McMillan or Manners stock.

1.  Action Gun Works
2.  McMillan
3.  Georgia Precision (GAP)

It looks like I can get an action, Lilja barrel, and stock for around $3600 and then get it all put together for about $800.  If I go this route, which is looking better all the time, what break should I be looking into?    I looked up the AR50 break and they are out of stock (of course).  I did a search on google and couldnt really find much in terms of buying just a break.  I did see that ALS sells them, but who knows how long it might take to get one seeing as they have a 2 year wait on their uppers.  Any ideas?

I would suggest an AR-50 brake.  In the time it takes to get the gun built, you'll be able to find one by then.  Probably the most popular brake out there for McBros guns is a K&P clamshell.  Not sure they're made anymore.  But I fell certain the AR-50 is a bit more efficient and probably available pretty easy with a bit of searching.  Might just want to backorder it from Armalite.

ALS is similarly efficient to the Armalite.  Call Darran and ask him if he has any.  He can probably make an extra in his next parts run or he might have an extra around.
