Guys,
I picked up some once fired Magtech brass off of Gunbroker.  It all looks good except the necks are a little black from firing.  What is the best way to remove this?, or is it necessary?
TIA

Is it soot on the necks? If so just tumble them and they will be fine.

BTW, soot on the necks in a 50 is normal. Ignition and peak pressure are so slow in a 50 that sooty necks are unavoidable, most of the time.

Most of the time you can use a rag and some case polish to get it off before you tumble them. It should come off during regular tumbling but you will get some cases that don't want to give it up.

Either way it will come off and isn't a problem.

Works great on necks before you throw them in the tumbler.   It's about $4 at most auto parts stores.

I've used Flitz and a rag to clean it off.  A little goes a long way, and there's nothing in Flitz that can harm brass AFAIK.

I love Nevrdull.  Used to use that stuff to polish uniform brass in military school.  That stuff and simichrome are the two best brass polishes out there.

If you look at the MSDS Flitz has some ammonia compounds in it.
