| Hi, does anyone know what powder HSM uses in their 750 grain AMAX Match loads. Im getting set to start reloading and since I had good results with their factory loads I want to start with that and try to fine tune it for my gun. Thanks. |

I can't imagine they use anything but H50BMG since it is the definitive powder for 750 grain 50 BMG projectiles and highly temperature stable but I don't really know what they use. If you know what velocity you are getting with HSM, i'm sure it would be easy to work up a load to match that velocity sweet spot for your gun. -David Edgewood, NM |
| thanks. I figured it was H50bmg but im not sure. I do want to start with that load and work from there. luckly I now have a place I can regularly shoot it at to test out loads. I havent looked to see if the different powders for the 50 look different and was planning on pulling one of my factory loads out to check the powder type and charge. and then compare it to the load manual so I dont over charge the round. |

215 to 220 grain of H50BMG behind a 750 AMAX is a typical accuracy load range lots of guys use. I personally found the best results with 229 grains H50BMG behind Amax's but my gun has a pretty open chamber and a long leade so I need a good charge to get a good chamber seal. Work up your load and start at 214 to 215 grains. There's a good chance you'll find a sweet spot somewhere in that area. I started seeing tight bolt pressure signs on my gun around 237 grains and the SD went way up. Your results may vary. -David Edgewood, NM |
