Due to the recent 50BMG ammo increase, I'm debating getting into reloading.  When purchasing pulled API bullets, does anything need to be done to prep them prior to reloading?  I'm looking into the $160 Lee kit.  Anything else to consider?

They will have to be resized. Lee sell the die to do tis for about 30 bucks. It is the .510 bullet sizing die. Midway has them. Some places sell the bullets sized or unsized. Check out patsreloadind.com or wideners.com.

hello. you will also need to trim your cases. is this the first time your going to re-load any ammo? if so, you had better find someone that does it regularly to teach you. this can be very dangerous if you dont know what is going on. hate to see you lose your head or fingers trying to save a few dollars.  kirk

As long as you take your time and pay attention to what you are doing there should never be a problem.  There is lots of info on the net and in books on how to do this.  If you know someone who reloads ask to borrow one of there manuals.  There is usually some good info on "how to" and things you should look for while reloading.  Loading for the .50 uses the same process as loading for a .308 except there is a bigger bullet and a lot more powder.   It can also afford you to do whole lot more shooting and that is a good thing.

Good Luck
