I recently purchased a new M82 recently.  The 14th round that I fired through the gun became stuck in the chamber, and a portion of the extractor grove was pulled off by the extractor.  After looking at the prior rounds, and the additional 30 or so rounds I fired tonight, I noticed that almost every round had extractor damage.  Any thoughts as to how I can correct this condition, or is it normal?  Before I went to the range tonight, I cleaned the chamber again, but it did not seem to make a difference.  I also used two different types of brass IMI, and FN, both having similar results.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Finally, is the Sportsman's Warehouse FN surplus corrosive?

Thanks,

John

Are the cases coming out of the gun looking the same as they went in, or do they look "frosty" with scratch marks on them?

Have you chronographed the ammo yet? What is the velocity?

Do the cases or primer exhibit signs of high pressure like flattened primers, or marks on the case head from the ejector hole.

It kind of sounds like soft brass, but IMI brass has typically had the correct harness gradient.

If you cannot figure it out call a Barrett tech at the factory. They will talk to you on the phone, usually right away.

Are the pull marks pretty noticable? A pic of the brass would be nice if you can post it.

Yes, they are quite noticable.  I will scan tomorrow and post pictures.

Thanks,

I will post some scans tomorrow.  The primers look ok.  The cases do have scratch marks.  I am planning to call the factory tomorrow.  I will post all of the details tomorrow night.

Thanks,

John
