[ARCHIVED THREAD] - AR-50 grip?

I know there was a thread on this a while ago but I can't find it. My question is, does the AR-50 use a standard AR style grip? I was looking at mine and it damn sure looks like an AR-grip. I'd like to replce it with either a Hogue or the Ergo target grip.

You can replace it, might have to do minor fitting.

Yes you can replace it but it is not a direct bolt-on job.

The Armalite grip is an ar-15 grip with the front part trimed to a radius. Doing this on a plastic grip can be done with a file/Dremel and time. I did one and did not take my time, it functioned but was ugly. I am thinking about making some sort of jig for my next one.

Thanks guys, I looked at it more closely last night and I did see the different bevel. Looks like a fun job anyay. Thanks to all.

I put the Hogue on my AR-50. You will need to round off the front top edge of the grip and cut a notch in the back end near the bottom so the stock will fit in there. Or you can cut the stock but I chose to cut the $15 grip, not the $2000 rifle. Then it goes right on.

BigBore it funny you mentioned this because I was test fitting a Hogue last night and came to the same conclusion. We must be on the same wavelength or something.
