I am ready to order a Shilen trigger for my AR50.. I am looking in the Brownelles catalog and there are two different models, the standard and the competition trigger..
The difference is the standard is a 2 lever design that uses the factory safety and the Competition one is a 3 lever design that has no safety provisions..

Which one do I need or want???
Thanks

If you bought a stock AR50, it has a Shilen on it already.

Yes, it is adjustable. You can go to Sniper Country and find the instructions for the adjustments of the Remington 700 trigger or any good gumsmith can do it. I had a gunsmith adjust mine down to 3.5 pounds.

Back when they first came out Shilen was offering a new trigger arm that turned the Shilen/Armalite trigger (which is poor to say the least) into more of a Remington trigger.  They sold me a new trigger arm for $28 which lowered the trigger pull down to 3 pounds and very crisp.  I have been told since that Shilen will no longer sell the trigger arm for the conversion but you might want to check to make sure.  The new trigger arm made all the difference in the world on my AR-50 (first generation rifle).  If they do not sell just the arm any more you can use most any Remington 700 trigger and they are very easy to adjust.  You do not need one with a safety because first of all, the AR-50's safety is in the bolt and second, you don't need a safety.  You do not load the AR-50 until you are ready to shoot so what use is there for a safety anyway?  It's not like you are going to load the rifle and then do a walk-about with it now is it?

So I read the trigger adjustment directionss from Sniper Country and they seem straight forward.. Doing this will function just as good as a new trigger?? Has anyone here done a trigger job per these instructions?? How do you like it??
Thanks

I have done 3 Remington 700 type triggers per the Sniper Country instructions, including my AR50, and all are excellent.

Same here...

I have performed more Remington 700 trigger jobs than I can remember and all turned out great.  You'll be glad you did it!!

Good luck,
