| I went to look at a replica 50 cal that was used in the filming of Saving Private Ryan that is for sale. I wan't sure what to expect (de-milled BMG or welded prop). It appears to be some sort of training gun. It was in a large transit chest with all kinds of odds and ends (such as aluminum feed chutes and demilled linked ammo). The gun was electrically powered with a motor in the rear of the receiver. It had some kind of brass toothed feed in the front of the receiver. In the lid of the chest was a large technical blueprint. It was hard to make anything of the print, other than it stated, revised 1945, and it also said something about being chambered for 45 Colt blanks. In a compartment attached to the bottom of the lid was two smaller feed chutes about 3 foot long each. Does anybody know what this thing is, and what it might be worth? It appeared to look like an aircraft 50, having the same fully shrouded, shorter barrel, and no spade grips. I hope someone could shed some light on this. Thanks. |
