I picked up an interesting .50 cal gauge at a sale recently.  Originally thought it was a headspace gauge but it seems to include too many ammo specs.  Was it used in the manufacture of ammunition?  It is milled out of a solid piece of steel and weighs 8.05 ounces and includes the following inscriptions:

SETTING GAGE FOR CAL..50 CART..
GAGE & WEIGH.MACH.
FC2359.ORD.DEPT.U.S.A.

MEAN OVERALL LENGTH 5.425
DIA.HEAD.799 THICKNESS HEAD.081
DIA.EXTRACTOR GROOVE.675
DEPTH PRIMER.005

Came from an estate sale and was priced the same as a bunch of .50 empty casings it was mixed with.
Thanks for any info,
Lloyd

it may be part of an M2HB or ANM2 machinegun headspace/timing gauge set
