I am considering buying a PS90.

Have there been production changes on this firearm that I should look out for to make sure I don't buy an older or less desirable variant?

If so, what are they.

Thanks

If you can find an older Tri Rail for a decent price I'd go for that. Also the Green stocks are no longer offered.

If you find a tri-rail, buy it.  Thatls about it really, the rest is personal preference.  The USG and tri-rail were both discontinued but can be found from time to time, used and new.  Personally just get a new regular one (1913 rail across the top).  People complain the rail is too high, and if you feel that way get a halo mfg triple rail for $75.  The USG was updated at one point from a white reticle to a black reticle, the black being easier to see for most people.

Is the factory red dot a good way to go?  I see they can be bought configured that way.  The switch doesn't look like it would be weather proof though.

Ha - I just now bought 2,000 rounds of ss197 on gun broker so I guess I better get some FN to shoot it soon.

I'm liking my Gen 2 PS90 with the Black reticle. The trigger pack is worth more than the later versions. If you get an early version, also buy a gen 3 or gen 4 pack at $75 or less, to stick in the gun to use or if the gun needs to be shipped back to FNH for repairs, or they will take it out your valuable pack and ship you one of the less desirable later packs, and call it a repair.

They changed it to make it more "BATF Friendly".

They are currently on Gen 4.

The gen 1 and gen 2 have a safety sear. It's a safety feature, prevents out of battery ignition.  Can't really talk about it.....

the only older more desirableps90's  are the gen 1 & gen 2 trigger packs google it to know for sure but the serial numbers are under 30,000 something.

od green stocks are no longer made and the black ring sight was morepopular than the white ring sight.

Don't forget there is also the "green" ring sight (not sure if it ever actually shipped on a rifle though) as well as the other model that shipped with the little mini RDS on a fitted mount.
