I really am considering purchasing a Scar 17s FDE, but I get into a little problem called temptation you see.
I start thinking about the firearms/things I could purchase vs the Scar. For example:

Versamax Tactical
Glock 26 Gen 4               Vs.       SCAR 17
Slr-107

PS90
Slr-104                            Vs.       SCAR 17
Ammo for Each

HK45 Compact Tactical  Vs.       SCAR 17
IWI Tavor

The first series is actually what I did when I had the funds and I was happy. This could on for a while and as you can see there are quite a few quality guns that you could mix and match. You how do you do it?

I think the same way when I'm about to spend nearly 3k on one firearm. Just get a scar you'll love it.

Exactly.  I thought the same thing, then bought 2 17s, 1 black, 1 FDE.  I liked my 16s, but it wasn't different enough to warrant the extra money it costs, so I sold it.

The 17 is a different story altogether.  It's HANDS DOWN, the best .308 platform out there.  I have an AR10, CMMG CBR MK3, MEGA MATEN and had an SR25.  For the money, there's nothing that can beat it all around.

Sure, there are 308 bolts that are more accurate, but there isn't anything that is as light, balanced and easier to maintain than the 17.

The quest for .30 caliber long range accuracy gifted me with and FN-SPR.....the motivation for  DMR type accuracy led me a different direction.

Your collection / interests change over time.

You save and buy what you like at that time.  Eventually you'll cull a few out and add a few in.  Personally, I'd rather have fewer guns that are higher quality than more lower quality guns.  Each person defines the attributes of "quality" differently, but for me I wouldn't want an AK that wasn't Arsenal, AR that wasn't BCM or Colt, and honestly....I'm selling all of those because I think the FN Scar is overall better for my needs.

I find myself doing the same thing.  Looking for the ultimate do it all rifle.  SCAR 17 nails it with the balance, weight, .308 power, reliability, and ease of maintenance.  Just wish it was a bit more accurate.  I can't get better than 1.5-2" @ 100 on bags testing with a 22x nightforce and FGMM.  If it did sub 1" with FGMM I'd probably sell every other rifle I own and get a second SCAR 17 for backup.
