Has anybody gotten their hands on one of these yet?

I have a spare sear and host I have been sitting on for years with little previous motivation to get them combined as I have another converted FNC already.   This looked pretty interesting and peaked my interest...albeit the conversion cost ($4500) does take your breath away a little bit.

I am guessing a lot of the cost is in the design and low volume manufacture of an all new lower with the extra material to support the beveled mag well, LRBHO components, and ambi mag controls as well as a brand new 1-7 FN HB barrel. (No clue how he got those barrels)

Given how not so well the last set of FNC lowers worked out with a LRBHO lever added from ORF,  I was curious if anybody has gotten one of these yet or if I would end up being a beta tester.   Granted TSC is about as safe as you can get when it comes to quality of work & conversions but was interested if any of these were out in the wild yet and if there were any opinion on how well they functioned.

Would love to get an FNC sear. Seems like it would be the way to go.

I'll admit that I'm very ignorant about the FNC, but I like the way the Bofors AK-5 looks.

Larry Vickers also commented on the rifle being a little more finicky than new manufacture 5.56 rifles.

I wish these were more available and less expensive so I can have a semi auto one (maybe just a SBR).

The bolt hold open works. Mike installed my FNC sear before he offered the BHO, but he did install the heavy 1/7" barrel in my gun. Runs like a champ! It's going back to the shop for a bolt hold open and FN markings. The cool thing is that Mike's stock adapter will let you use either the FNC factory stock, or any aftermarket stock. Pretty ingenious!

Can he install the BHO on a factory lower or do you have to get a completely new lower (as what the pictures show) with the extra material to support the new hardware.

Everything is done on a factory lower.

Wow, so all that extra material is somehow welded on?  even the beveled magwell portion?

Yup, it's all welded on. Not sure how he does the magwell though.

Criminy.... and I though milling a new lower was a challenge.  I am absolutely stunned somebody could add all that material on the left side and not warp the lower to that side as the added material shrunk as it cooled.   I have had AR lowers twist a bit just tig welding over the selector markings. The magwell portion I am just dumbfounded as how you could add all that and not warp the thin magwell walls all to hell and back.

Thanks for the information.

Yes, Mike did say that he was worried about warping the receiver when he did his first conversion. But I think he's since found a way to spot weld the the BHO.

I'll ask him about the magwell when I see him in a few weeks, and will post some pictures when he finishes my work. As I said, I just am getting the BHO open installed and new FN markings.

Seems like more work to weld the lower than to machine a new one. While very interesting, I would not want to permanently alter my FNC with these mods. I would love one of his FN CHF barrels, but not at $1250...that is just absurd pricing.

How does mike install the sear? Does he drill the hole for the sear pin or does he install the sear into a support housing that sits into a milled pocket within the lower? Curtis Higgins did the latter for a bit when ATF was raising concern over drilling the sear pin hole (due to the lower being the serialized firearm at the time). I ask because the rifle pictured on the TSC website lacks the auto sear pin, but had select fire markings.

Not sure about how he installs the sear. I can pop mine out, so I'm guessing it's in a milled pocket.

And how to drain my bank account! He's built my G3K, 33K, 53, MP5, and MP5K-PDW. If I can ever find a decent priced HK94, I might have him build a SD for me.

Interesting. Do you mind posting a photo of your sear installed?

I would rather have an AK5 conversion.   The barrel is great and I could see the benefits of the stock.   Not too interested in the rest of it.

I guess if you have money to burn, but if I am burning that much money, might as well upgrade to a M16.

If the SHTF, I am not going to burn the most precious commodity in the world via full auto fire.   Going to grab the Colt SBR instead.

I would do it. In fact, now I want an FNC and sear to do this..
