Just wondering what the latest news is on this? Any idea of a release date for the civilian market?

Anyone heard anything new as of lately?

As of now FNH has no intention of selling them to civilians yet.  But, of course keep looking for when they will be available, one can dream

It's the only SCAR variant that I actually have an interest in.

Me too.

If I'm going to venture into the land of semi-auto .308s, I want a precision rifle. Not trashing the SCAR 17 by any means as I'd certainly love to have one, but I'd prefer the MK 20 if it ever reaches us.

Hopefully sooner or later the SSR will be available to the civi world. Im sure that it would  be uber expensive but I would kill for one.

Would also love to see a precison 5.56 version of the SSR. Or even a 16" barreled Mk20.

The Mk 20 appears to be gaining credibility in the military. Looks like the Seals are using it quite extensively.

Get a Geissle Trigger and either an FN rail extension or PWS extension for your 17 and you are half way there. You wouldnt have the heaveir trunion or barrel but I bet the gun would be nasty to 800-900 yards.

Considering the lack of a simple spare barrel, an ssr is pure fantasy land.  Love to have one though

According to WeaponOutfitters on FNforums the Civilian Mk20 may possibly be available next year. He heard that from some FN reps. Could be very expensive though. 2-3 times the price of a Mk17.

Damn

I was doing good to get a 17S . Oh well. I guess I'll have to get an OBR or a bolt gun if I want something more precise than the normal SCAR.
