Mine was an immediate turn around, significant improvement for a good price.

did you have to send him your whole lower?

Yes on sending the lower directly to him.

More details?  What's the difference in pull?  Reset?

did you do a 16 or 17?

Mine is a 17S, the weight is significantly lighter though I do not have a device to measure, I could say five pounds.  The pull is significantly reduced, overall very smooth with short reset.  Not as nice as my JP triggers in the SASS, but very nice for this rifle.

Good luck, maybe his SCAR work will hold up better than his AR work.

Bill did both my 16 and 17. Big improvement.

With so many good inexpensive AR triggers around, why would you even bother sending an AR trigger to Bill?

Bill got my LE6920 at around 3lbs and charged me $40.  There is no $40 trigger out there that is a "drop in", and he will warranty any of his work.

I am contemplating sending him my 17's trigger, it is the only thing I can't stand on the rifle.

If you shoot 100 rounds a year or less you got a great deal.  Report back after a thousand or two trigger pulls.  Some people get lucky and their trigger holds up fine, there have been plenty of reports on these forums of the triggers turning loose in as few 500 rounds.

He did a PTR 91 for me a while back.  The trigger would stop resetting every 500rds or so. He wanted me to bend the arm on a spring to fix it.  It worked another few hundred rounds.  Then I sent it back and he fixed it.  It worked another few hundred rds.

The guy cuts springs to achieve his results.  Ok for a range toy but I would never trust his work with my life, and I certainly wouldn't pay for the work after my experience.

How much does a new FN hammer and trigger cost for the SCAR 16/17?

It's not how much they are but if you can get them right now.

I was asking because if the trigger starts failing can a person even get a replacement?

The problems with my stock SCAR 16S trigger include:

1). the weight, it's kind of high about on-par with most standard LPK's for AR15s

2). the reset, it's the same as the FS2000 and PS90 reset - basically completely let off the trigger for it to reset

I love the RRA 2-stage NM trigger for my AR15 and I'm sure the high speed low drag Giesselle trigger is better, but the price is too steep for the SCAR. I'm fine with the stock 16S trigger, but I'd prefer a drop-in 2-stage/better trigger kit versus having someone modify the stock trigger.

You can get them.  Directly from Browning/FNH, Midwest Gun Works, and Hi-Desert Dog all carry a variety of SCAR parts.  The trigger groups are NOT cheap, however.  A full set will run you in the neighborhood of $200.

I think the weight is fine, but agree on the reset.  When doing max speed rapid firing, I find that my usuual trigger manipulation sometimes doesn;t let the trigger reset.  I like to keep tension on the trigger at all times when doing such strings, but it is harder with the SCAR.  I have the Super SCAR trigger on backorder, so we'll see how that does.  It is pricey, but I've never regretted getting Geisele product.

Bill Springfield is going to get someone sent to prison eventually. His JUNK work fails and goes full auto on a regular basis. I've had it happen to me when shooting a friends rifle.

They are great if you shoot 2 mags worth of ammo a year.

I wish I would have been aware of the concern regarding his work - nw I've got to get it back to being right.

No way in hell I would let Bill even touch my SCAR trigger pack, considering that the replacement trigger components would cost around $218.75 plus shipping (assuming that they are available and not sold out when/if the trigger fails). Bill's work has been very hit and miss in the last few years, and the fact that he cuts the hammer spring does it for me.

Trigger $39.75

Sear 65.00

Hammer $109.00

Hammer Spring $5.00

I just cleaned up the engagement surfaces with a emery impregnated wheel to take out the grit for about $0.05, made a world of difference without ruining the case hardened surface or cutting springs

Don't worry yet, go out and shoot the rifle a lot.

See what happens, if it starts doubling contact bill and see if he will warranty it.

If he blows you off then it's time to look into getting replacement parts.

My experience with Browning parts dept and SCAR parts is a 3-4 day delivery time.  Very positive.
