And THAT is the $20,000.00 question. When you find some let us all know. They're showing up here and there, often at reasonable prices, but there is as of yet, very little rhyme, reason, or predictability in who has them, and how much they are going for. If you want the safest bet, I'd try Midway USA. They're always sold out, but they do consistantly get stock in and fill orders with reasonable prices. You just may have to wait a couple weeks.

Weeks, my a%$#!  I ordered from Midway on Jan.5th and am still waiting. Midway doesn't even post projected ship dates anymore.

FN trickles them out.  Priority goes to the Military first.  When they release mags to distributers, they are mostly all spoken for, unless you have a good dealer that will pass the savings to you, the retail price is going to be in the $40 range.  If you have to have mags right now, then they are available, for a higher cost...

Mags will eventually become more plentiful and costs will come down.  I've bought mags for as high as $60.  It sucks to shell out that much but I got the mag.  Just sayin'.

You must not be looking in the right place.  Next stock date is 04/10/11.

I bothered the shit out of a buddy of mine until he sold me 3  of his for 100.00
Had another buddy try to find me some @ Knob Creek...one dealer wanted 100.00 per mag. I wasn't willing to go above 40.00/per.

Check Gunbroker, brand new mags are often available for $60 to $70 or so.   So if you want these mags badly enough, you can certainly get them..  But if you want to buy them at suggested retail, you will probably have to wait, wait and wait...Hehe.

I just got the 4 I ordered from Midway on 1/5/11.  Last night I ordered 5 more.  Should have them in 3 or 4 months, I'm in no hurry now.

What kind of mags does the Scar 17 take?  Is it SR25 mags?

Its a modified FN FAL magazine specificly desinged for the SCAR17.  A few have tried to modify their own FN FAL magazine with little success.  Honestly, you have to really know what you are doing and justify if the time is worth putting into it.

Only successful attempt I know of:   http://fnforum.net/how-to-fal-mags-to-scar17s-t26801.html

Do any of the aftermarket mags work?

Not without major modifications.  The C Products SCAR mags seem to be less then reliable.

Best thing is to place your order with Midway USA and wait and not get raped by someone on Gun Broker.
