Anyone have a photo of what the factory optic looks like.  I am trying to decide on the optic or rail version.

recent thread I started...I just went through this process.  I GREATLY prefer the tactical to the standard, in fact, I just sent my standard back for several optic-related issues.

However, as a collector, now might be the best time to buy the standard, as less were made and it's being dropped from the catalog this year, according to Bob Ailes at FN.

Optic varant thread here...

I dont have a photo with me, nor can I take you one atm (stupid war), but I can tell you I have the STD version and wish I had bought the tactical every time I take it out.  The concept with the optic and housing is great, the problem is nothing else fits in there (yes I know some people have jury rigged stuff, but that doesnt count), so your stuck with the factory optic which is less than steller.  I am planning on removing it and replacing it with an EO tech when I get home, but it would have been nice to get the Tac version with the metal rail.

I can take any photos of the standard model when I get home from work.  Just PM or email what you need.

I don't see what the complaint is, you can simply remove the cover and factory optic and you have a rail to mount what ever you like. I feel you get the option of both with the standard.

Check out the FNForums.net, in the FS2000 section another member and I have done a huge write up on both the Tactical and Standard. I have the Standard, and I think that is the best option.

The tactical is better, but for $1,400 from CDNN the Optical model is a steal.

Yes you can, the drawback is its polymer and about 4-5 mm lower than the tacticals rail

Correct polymer, but still totally functional. It is the best of both worlds, I actually like the factory optic. I am not shooting this at 100yd targets so I don't see a need to mount my tactical 10x scope. The 1.6x fills the role fine for 25 to50yds. Remember this is designed as a battle rifle not a target rifle.

Here is my FS2000 STD with an Eotech XPS 2-2 and 3x FTS

As for how well it holds zero, here is 20 rounds from 25 meters on a 300 meter zero sized target

Looks pretty good to me

ETA: This was fired seated unsuported
