Don't have one, but was wondering if anyone's replaced that hideous compensator yet?  I know someone will say, "oh but it's a great compensator," but seriously what's that doing on this fine weapon?

I assume that they are NOT pinned on.  For those that have replaced them...

1) what have you replaced them with? (any pics would be appreciated)

and

2) was it a bugger to remove?

Thanks for any help in advance.

I have one in-bound, I'll let you know for sure, but I hear they are merely screwed on. No pinning or soldering.  Not sure what the muzzle thread pitch is but likely the same as an AR.

I know I am going to swap mine out when it gets here for a vortex. I assume they are just screwed on and shouldn't be very hard to replace.

They are the standard AR pitch, .5x28. I replaced mine with a older M41000 phantom mount that I had. As I didn't have access to a vice, I had a gunsmith do mine. $20 including shipping.

Now that's what it's supposed to look like.  Thank you.

Very nice.

However, why does that barrel look longer than 16"?  Did FN pull the same stunt as its FS2000 and make the barrel a bit over 17" to comply with certain state requirements?

No.  The barrel is 16.25" long.  The FS2000 barrel was lengthened to meet certain state OAL requirements.  Not necessary with the SCAR.

Swapped mine out for an AAC SOPMOD FH.  It actually reduced the overall length from that PWS compensator by approximately 1/4".  The SOPMOD FH appears to be long.  However, more than half of it, to the rear, slips overtop the barrel.  The barrel thread face mates up inside at approximately the midpoint.

I agree.  It does make the barrel look more like a 16" barrel.  The PWS compensator just doesn't look right on the barrel I guess.
