Gents, I’ve had an IOR M2 mounted on my FS2000 for about nine months. The scope is fine; however this combination is slower than I would like. It has a small “head box” due to a short eye relief and narrow field of view. I’ve ordered a Kahles 1.1 – 4x Helia C with 4A reticle. I’m thinking about mounting this with a small red dot on top and iron BUIS underneath. I mentioned this to my gunsmith and he said “whole lotta’ claptrap for a short rifle, why don’t you just put an Eotech on it for less money?” Now I’m wondering if he’s right. The main use will be a range toy and possibly three gun. Any thoughts from people who own one and have tried a few different combinations? |

It seems that your gunsmith is right. The Eotech is your best bet. Since you're going to use your FS2000 as a range toy and in 3-gun matches, I'd go with the 512 if I were you. I was in the same boat as you when I was looking for a good optic for my FS2000. I was originally going to buy a Meopta Meostar R1 1-4x22 K-dot, but as your gunsmith would've said, "whole lotta claptrap for a short rifle, why don't you just put a Eotech 512 on it for less money". Yep, he's definitely right about that one. That's why I've decided to go with a Eotech 512 myself. I know a few people who own FS2000's with Eotechs on them and they love it. |
Got a pic of this setup? I'd like to see it as it is something I've considered. |

As much as I hate to admit it, I don't know how to post pics. I know you need a link to a picture hosting service (which I don't have a subscription to) but beyond that I'm clueless. I would be happy to e-mail a pic if you send me your address. Let me know what size it should be (I live in the country so we only have a dial-up modem). Capt_Steve |

Which of the compact magnifying optics sit the LOWEST? The pic of the IOR 3x25 is on an angle so I can't tell for sure but that seems a lot lower than the ACOG. I'm going with the EOtech, but I'd like something with magnification. I was also checking out the ELCAN ATOS.... Any ideas on finding a very low one are appreciated! --Fargo007 |
I'm running Yankee Hills front and rear. Brownells has them pretty reasonably priced compared to others. I also like that you can adjust the front site with an AR tool (unlike the Troy). I bought a set of the new push button GG&G's but they WON"T work on an FS or any other flat rail setup. They have to overhang the rear of the rail to reset the push-button.............................DJ |
What kind of optic is that?
