OK, I saw a couple at the gun show a few months ago and I think I've been bitten by the bug.  I've got a few noob questions that I'm hoping you guys can help me out with.

Instead of the standard 30rnd mag, does any know if the FS2000 will accept a straight 20rnd mag?    I'm thinking that a straight 20rnd would be just long enough to not stick out past the bottom of the gun.

Does anyone make a replacement railed front-end that'll let me mount accessories on the sides or below the barrel forward of the trigger?

Is the barrel threaded to accept a standard AR15 FS?   I was thinking that I'd like to swap out the factory FS for a Phantom or a Vortex.

What kind of optics is everyone favoring?    I'm thinking that a C-more mounted far up front would be perfect except for that fact that they're not that durable.    I might have to go with an EOTech, but I'm afraid that they'd be a bit bulk for the rifle.

Also, the gripping surfaces (grip, forearm) seem kinda slickery.   Has anyone played around with checkering or some other method to rough up the handling surfaces for a more positive grip?

Slings?  Is anyone making slings for the FS2000?   Or should I just plan on either making or modifying one of my own?

Spare furniture?   Since there seems to be a definitely lack of mounting attachement points, how's the availability of spare stocks, forearms, etc???    The plastic stock and forearms offer a lot of possbilities for doing homebrew mods, but I too chicken to try without a replacement to swapout if I don't like the mod or screw it up.

Last and most importantly, where to get one?   Who's got the best prices, availabilty, etc...  ?    I've checked out gunbroker.com, but I'd rather buy either locally or an established dealer.

Thanks in advance for all thoughts and advice.

I use straight walled 20 rounders in mine--you are right, they stick out just far enough to grab. A magpul would make it just right.

Being worked on by monolith arms. Mcgiver on here has some photos of what he has rigged up for his rig.  Look at the old threads and scan the pics.  Five seven forum has lots of good info.

I don't know, but have seen other muzzle devices on other people's Fs2000's.

Eotech worked fine for me. I mounted it back towards the stock.  Also tried a Zeiss Z point which was great and a Dr. optic which is tiny and works very well.

Whatever you like. seen home made and factory. I have an urban ERT sling on mine--photo in the thread "let's help this guy out", here on the herstal board.

Again, look for Mcgiver's FS2000 in the thread "why shouldn't the FS2000 replace the M4". You should really check out Five Seven forum--so much great info.  Don't be afraid.

Check sturmgehwehr--saw several last week for under 2k's brand new.  I mail ordered mine. Don't be afraid to order one from another state to get a good deal. Shop around.  I actually emailed everyone who had an auction on gunbroker and gunsamerica until I found a guy that would sell it to me for what I wanted to pay.  After another week, I got several offers from dealers I had emailed that were actually a tad lower than what i got mine for.

Thanks in advance for all thoughts and advice.

You're welcome!  You are gonna love your fS2000 when you get it.

Like chicken said the twenty rounder works great, and adding a magpul base is a good idea to help pull it out

Monolith is making them available hopefully by early next month. I hope to start producing my design soon I am just waiting on parts. mine is a lower profile tri rail than the one monolith is producing, here is a picture

Is the barrel threaded to accept a standard AR15 FS?   I was thinking that I'd like to swap out the factory FS for a Phantom or a Vortex.

The barrel is threaded in 9/16X24 left hand, Standard AR15 is 1/2X28 right hand so you would have to reduce the diamiter of the threads and recut them I have done this procedure on four different guns including mine and it can be tricky so be cairfull. a better option is to buy a phantom with FAL threads (9/16X24LH) here is a picture

I have used several optics on mine and the one I find to be most versatile is the Eotech 552

Also, the gripping surfaces (grip, forearm) seem kinda slickery.   Has anyone played around with checkering or some other method to rough up the handling surfaces for a more positive grip?

Adding the railed forend with a vertical grip helps I have used a method for stippleing the grips on my glocks that may work for the FS2000 using a dremmel tool to drill a couple hundred minute holes in the grip about a 32th of an inch deep this provides amazing gripability in glocks and would probably provide good results in the 2000 as well

Slings?  Is anyone making slings for the FS2000?   Or should I just plan on either making or modifying one of my own?

a couple companies make them, I use one of the single point tac slings from this company www.uertslings.com/SLINGS.html

FNH tells me everytime I call that these replacement parts should be available in two weeks ( call them about every two weeks ) they are comming but nobody seems to know when

I have one hanging on the wall in my gunshop I see you live in washington (as do I ) PM me and I will see about getting you a good deal. and if you live close to my shop I may be able to help with your modifications

Thanks in advance for all thoughts and advice.

I have decided to leave both my FS 2000 rifles in factory stock form.  Personally i like the factory style flash hider/compensator and have seen really bad and excellent convertions when upgrading the FH to a different design.

One day FNH will release the the factory 1.6 power optic sight as seen on the F2000 but until that day comes i have decided to use the new Trijicon TA31RCOM4 optic on my black FS 2000 and a Tri power on the green machine.

Both optic choices provide excellent red chevron aiming system and clear optical glass.
I use D&H black and H&K black maritime 30rd mags with excellent preformance. The FS 2000 is a true pleasure to shoot. I just love how the empty brass drops out from the ejection tunnel ramp on the right side.

The rifle tends to spoil you a little,...it has the ultimate bad ass look and comfort zone of your favorite bed time pillow.  After shooting the gun for the first time last month i have almost retired the AR15's for the rest of the year.  for 2 grand she it worth every penny.

Grats on the purchase
I'm going to buy one also and am wondering what a good price is, I've seen them from 2100 to 2500.

2100.00 would be a fair price these days, I originally paid 1950.00 for both my Black and green FS 2000's. The FS Green model was of the first import release of 412 units and bassically a year later i bought the black one during a FNH sales event at a local south seattle gun store.  For a bullpup design they are the utimate carbine, I provided my gun to several arf com member at the local LCR shoot and belive many more members will be investing in one sooner or later. Things to come...

Mine is better than blow and whores followed by morphine and microwbrews.I have only had it for two weeks and it is so much fun.Right know  I am running a trijicon reflex with the triangle on her.I don't like the reflex sight,I get different POIs if I close an eye to shoot.I mean a rossie o'donnel size difference(6 to 8 moa).My  dealer said I could trade over for an EOTECH(have one on my 91 works great),I have also thought about a regular mini ACOG in 2.5 power. The reflex has two things going for it though, its tiny compared to an EOTECH,and is always on,being "solar" powered.
