over at rubens
Never seen one ground out like this, with a new serial stamp (let alone an X ##### serial) and fresh park. Anyone ever seen these before on the market? anyone have any history on them? Figure these are going to end up like the 12-14 BNIB A2's that popped up on his site a few months back with hints of post-86 forging. |
| I talked to Ruben about these. Colt tool room guns used in the ACR ACR facts U.S. Mil program, and the ACR rollmark removed by Colt before sale. I saw them before the refinish, they were in nice condition but clearly had seen some use. They look very nice now, and low cost way to get a Colt A2 receiver if you don't mind the cosmetics of the rollmark edit. |

Yup
Those are the Pre-ACR receivers, and they are from the first test batch that did not get to Knight's collection. It is too bad he had them refinished, as they would have been worth more as is in my opinion since it was an X serial number prototype, which was made before the 1986 ban on a legit military M16A2 forging. They probably came from the same source that all those stripped down ACR parts came from, but who knows. Too rich for me, but a nice piece of Colt M16 history. They are nicely detailed in The Black Rifle II by Bartocci, which is available for purchase, and was available for on line viewing, but has probably been pulled down. |

How were these refinished? |
