Been out of the shooting game for a while because of work... couple of quick questions for you guys.

I need recommendations on a  *good* cleaning substance to get rid of the unburnt gun powder plus alot of carbon build-up in the upper.   Lower is clean as a whistle, good to go.   If we go out and only run a couple hundred rounds, clean up is as easy as a can of carb-cleaner, some clp and a bore-snake.  However, a couple days ago we took a M16/RR out and shot ~2k rounds in a couple hours and the cleaning isnt easy this time

Second idea that popped into my head .... I bet a piston upper would solve alot of the cleaning issues, correct?  Just want to find a cheap blaster, but dont want to worry about the bolt tilting / screwing up a 15,000 receiver, if you understand.  Any recommendations?

LWRCI is a good one.
I have a M6A3 and love it.
Not cheap but works flawlessly.

I have an Adams Arms and talk about taking care of the cleaning issues.  None of that scraping and baked on goo. I pretty much ONLY shoot suppressed and cleaning is pretty non-existent compared to my gas uppers. I have put close to 2k rounds through my upper (AA Carbine kit and a custom cut M4 barrel at 11.7in) and to clean, I literally take the BCG out wipe down, drop some oil on the bolt, light oil the rails on the carrier and drop it back it. I should probably run a bore snake through but....
