I should be getting my paperwork back soon on a Colt 553 and I wanted to have new internals waiting for it when it arrives to replace the old original ones.
I have a aftermarket trigger for it, but would like to get an updated forward assist, and internals. Anyone know the nest place to buy new Colt M16 parts? Any other suggestions? |

Specialized Armament and Brownells both carry Colt M16 FCG parts.

Why would you want an "updated forward assist"? The one that is in your rifle has probably never been used. I have owned my M16 since the early 90's and have NEVER used the forward assist once. I don't know many who ever have. |

It's just the older big style. I wasn't thinking right. It's on the upper that I'm replacing anyway. I'm putting the original upper in the safe and going to punish a new Colt M4 upper. Just wanted to get those old springs replaced. Gotcha. That makes much more sense. I agree with you on the springs. Since you do not know their age or round count, I would replace them too. I replace my springs about every 5K rounds. |
