I would not worry about aluminum vs steel as almost all the the RDIAS bodies that were made were machined from aluminum.  As long as it functions and comes with a F4 .. I'd say your good to go!

They are on subguns. I called and talked to the guy about it. It was a safety sear that was bought threw shotgun news, and the NV custom guns was the shop that put a s/n on it and registered it. So that is the story behind it. He said that it had been "fitted" to the two hosts that they were offering to sell with the sear. I'm not sure why the guns weren't modded to "fit" the DIAS, but it was done the other way around. I guess they didn't use to cost much, so wasn't a big deal, but now adays? Makes you wonder. You can see the cuts they made into the sear to make it fit.

should the fact that this was cut to fit the rifle rather than the rifle cut to fit the sear concern me?
thanks

Yes and no. I mean, is there anything wrong with what they did? Most likely not. But if I had my choice, would I want someone cutting away metal on a $10k DIAS? Hell no. The two hosts he was selling where colts, and colts had the sear block in them, so maybe that is just how NV custom cut the guns, and their thought was the sear would fit tighter if it had that groove cut out in it? That would be my only guess as to why they would do that. Like I said before, back in the day when you could get them for $100, who cared? It really didn't matter. If you made a cut and it was too much, no big deal, you were only out $100. But now when you are talking $10k? I'd want it as factory fresh as it could be, and if I needed any work done on it, I'd send it to someone like M60joe who has a track record a mile long on working on these things. Will you have any issues because of it? Most likely not, but I don't know if they cut off metal on the other side of the sear as well. If they did, I'd be really leary about buying it. If anything, I'd say by the guns that the sear was fitted to, that way the cuts would be there for a reason.

Make sure it fits tight.  If it doesn't, shim it.

will do. I know nothing about using a RDIAS. What do you shim one with, thin strip of metal?

I use aluminum duck tape some and cam shim any upper in a minute. You can use anything that works tinfoil, little stips of plastic and glue them onto the rear lug or anything that will work.

I use a piece cut out of a 1/4" nylon cable clamp which I superglue (gel) it onto the lug. I usually shim the the sear forwards and downwards to relieve stress on the sear trip.  If using the sear in a 9mm rig, you should ensure the bolt carrier is ramped. You'll want to check the timing as well.

great info, I already have a RR AR, so I have all the stuff for 9mm.
