Is it legal to own a m16a1 stripped lower that is not registered and use it with a semi auto trigger pack?? I ask because I was at an auction and they had one it was pulled because it was to easy to make full auto. It was a stripped lower no internal parts at all. I would still love to have it as a Gm lower. It did have the hole drilled for the auto sear but once again no LPK. Is there a way to make it a legal m16 without a RLL or RDIAS??? thanks for the help |
BATFE's regs say: Once a machine gun, always a machine gun -- even if you welded over the autosear hole, it remains an MG. And the receiver is the machine gun. ![]() The only way to own a legal m16 is to pony up the $10k-$15k and buy one that is registered and transferable to civilians (it must have been in the NFA Registry prior to May 19, 1986, regardless of when it was made. And U.S. military M16s are not in the NFA Registry). |
If that receiver is not registered and has the sear hole anyone who has it is breaking the law. The auction house can even get in trouble for trying to sell an un registered machine gun. There is no way to register it and must be destroyed or turned in ASAP so that everyone can avoid doing time.. |
