Can you use an oly 9mm semi upper on a RR M16---what has to be done to get it to work and will i still be able to use it on my semi lower?

The reason i ask is i have a sbr'd oly 9mm set up and am looking into a RR m16 and would like to know what is involved in switching them back and forth.  IE--new bolt etc.

Thanks

You need to get the trip surface on the bolt in the proper place, this could mean a second bolt carrier and bolt to swap out, or just build up the original with welded on piece and time it properly.

Thank you, that is what i kinda figured.  Do you or anyone else know off hand if oly sells 9mm bolt carriers for m16's?  I would asume they do.  That will probably be the easiest route just switch bolt / bolt carrier between semi and FA lowers.

Thanks

Oly does sell FA carriers. If yours is more than 10 years old the ones they make now have a different bolt. Not the breech face profile just the extractor and key. You might want to buy the entire unit, that's what I did. I got it from Triple Break Products.

No issues swapping the Oly.

They did come with a full auto carrier. I bought mine from someone and they ground down the carrier out of paranoia.

I bought a new carrier for $45.
