Do the new issued A2's and A4's have forge markings on them?  Reason I ask is I have a new upper receiver from Colt (sent to me directly from them, while they were in strictly .mil production) and it has no markings on it at all that I can see.  My other receivers have a C for Colt and some type of forge marking.

Second, are the new issued weapons still finished in the Colt gray, or are they strictly black now, like the civilian/LE weapons?    Thanks!

Not sure if this partly answers your question, but currently the M16 contract is held by FN - whereas Colt manufactures the M4 carbine.

So Colt currently produces 0 A2's/A4's for our military?

Well, then apply the same questions to the current issue M4's- gray or black? manufacture/forge marks or no?

The M16's we have are FN A2's and are black.  What are forge markings?

Colt still produced the M16, albeit not in big numbers

According to an SEC filing (page 61), Colt ,  announced a 2005 production level of 1,400 M16's

Probably LE issue, or exports

Not sure of coloring, but pretty sure it is the same black as the LE gun and the M4

I didn't notice them, but then again I wasn't looking for them.
