Does anyone make a drop in, after market trigger for M16's?  After getting used too RRA 2 stage triggers in my AR's, I really hate going back to the USGI feel of my M16.  Thank you.

Okay, I googled it like I should have done in the first place and found out JP makes one.  Who sells them is the question now I guess.

JP makes one for the M16??? Do you have a link to the trigger on their page?

Thanks,

Jeff

The JP trigger for the M16 is just the standard JP AR15 trigger.  You can only buy the JP as a trigger/disconnector set, you just can't use the disconnector.  You use a standard M16 disconnecor and hammer with it.  JP might sell you a trigger alone, but they would probably charge full retail.

Gunner1x - No I can't give you a link for the JP trigger, I've been searching for one unsuccessfully myself.  When I googled "M16 trigger" I got an old AR15.com thread about after market M16  triggers where someone mentioned Knights and JP.  I just assumed they were up on the subject.

I haven't even found anyone selling the Knights M16 trigger.  I ain't having much luck.

Brownell's sells the JP trigger. www.brownells.com/aspx/ns/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=7585&title=AR-15+ADJUSTABLE+TRIGGER+KIT

Or you can buy it direct from JP: www.jprifles.com/

Any of you guys using an adjustable trigger in your M16? Are the adjustments stable
after a mag dump or 50? I've always been a bit concerned about the adjustment screws
walking during full auto fire.

I installed a JP in my M16A1 three years ago, locktiting it according to the directions after the initial adjustment. I have no idea how many rounds in all calibers I've put through it since then, but it's certainly in four or five figures including countless mag- and drum-dumps -- and the adjustment has not changed one iota. If you install it correctly, I can't imagine it ever needing re-adjustment.

FWIW. YMMV.

Thanks for the help fellas.  I had found that JP trigger while searching web sites but I thought it was for a semi auto only.

Did you guys have to do any tweaking of anything?  Maybe polishing of the hammer?

Nope. I had a fairly new Colt M16 hammer and disconnector (the kit comes with a semi disconector, so you need your own hammer & discon) and the only fitting required was a little polishing on the selector/disconnector faces so it would move a little more smoothly from position to position.

The kit comes with both written instructions w/photos, and a CD that is pretty detailed. If you watch the CD and read the book first, you can install, adjust and locktite everything in a half-hour.

I set mine for minimum overtravel and it's great -- the total arc of the trigger is so short, it's more like an on/off switch. But on semi it's like the proverbial glass rod breaking -- clean, crisp, very predictable. (Well, it's like a "glass rod breaking" on full-auto, too, there's just so much going on you can't feel it as well.)

BTW, JP sells spring kits in three weights: 3lbs., 3.75 lbs and 4.5 lbs. I shoot a lot of 9mm so I use a 4.5-lbs hammer spring and a 3-lbs trigger spring.

CT Supply, TACO and tony k, thanks for the info and the links.  I'm gonna go with the JP trigger for now.  If I don't like it I'll try the other.  Anythings better than what I got.
